Vida Mia with people on the cocktail cruise next to diamond head

Vida Mia Sunset Cocktail Cruise

The best place to watch the sunset in waikiki

If you are looking for an intimate cocktail cruise, come join us for a sunset sail along the coastline of beautiful Waikiki. Our sunset sail offers great views of Diamond Head and other famous Hawaii landmarks. This coastal cruise is a great way to see Honolulu. We often see pods of dolphins, whales, and sea turtles. Guests are invited to tour the entire historic vessel and our knowledgeable crew is there to help pass on the rich history of the Vida Mia.

The Sunset Experience

If you are looking for a more intimate setting or a place to get away from the crowds, our sunset cocktail cruise is the perfect way to spend a relaxing evening in Waikiki.

We are known all over the island for our outstanding customer service. Captain Ricky and his crew are standing by to whisk you off into the sunset with a cocktail in hand. Guests often remark that every cruise feels like a private charter.

This is an ideal cruise if you have dinner plans later in the evening.  There are several great restaurants that are walking distance from the boat such as Dukes Waikiki, Beachhouse at the Moana, Mahina and Suns, Monkey Pod Kitchen and Pesca Waikiki Beach at the Ilikai Hotel. If you are looking to continue the cocktail experience, we recommend heading over to White Sands Hotel for a special seating in the Green Lady Cocktail Room. For larger parties, please contact us to help arrange reservations.

If you are looking for a dinner cruise, please join us on Friday nights for our

Fresh Catch Friday Fireworks Cruise.

Pupus

Your ticket includes a selection of locally sourced menu items that pair nicely with our seasonal cocktail menu. We serve our menu family style and pride ourselves in offering an exciting culinary experience on all of our cruises. Expect a selection of items such as vegetarian crudités, ginger chicken skewers and Hawaiian fish ceviche.

Cocktail Menu

We offer a curated selection of craft cocktails. We only use fresh organic local fruit, custom-made syrups, and the best ingredients for all of our cocktails. We also have an exciting mocktail menu for our non-alcoholic drinkers. We offer full bar service with a selection of local whiskeys, rum, gin, tequila and vodka. Fresh ginger beer mocktails and dark and stormy's are some of our guest favorites. All of our cocktails are prepared fresh by our world-class crew throughout the duration of the cruise. The cost of the ticket includes 2 craft cocktails.

What to Expect

Expect an intimate evening and gorgeous sunset views, light winds and a friendly staff. Departure times are planned seasonally according to the sunset times. It is our goal to give our guests the best experience and the vest views possible, so please double check departure times before you check out.

Though we often see marine life as we crusie out, expect to see whales during the months of November - April.

Departs from Waikiki

We depart from the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor in Waikiki. We then embark on a leisurely 90-minute tour along the coast of Honolulu. Guests are back in the harbor by nightfall. But we've been known to stay out a bit longer if we catch a shooting star or see a pod of dolphins nearby. The sunset cocktail cruise is a favorite for many local residents and members of our boating community because of our laid-back friendly vibe. It's a great way to end another beautiful island day. The closest landmark is the Hilton Hawaiian Village Lagoon.

Route

Our captains will select the route based on conditions to optimize the guest experience. We typically take a leisurely cruise along the coastline of Waikiki and motor towards Diamond Head where guests will experience remarkable views of this iconic natural landmark. We turn about halfway through the cruise and set the boat in a calm location to get optimal views of the sunset. Please note that ocean conditions may slightly affect the route.

Went for the dinner cruise and caught an amazing sunset with great weather. The staff was incredible. The food was delicious. The live music was perfect. Hawaii is an extraordinary gift to be a part of and the Vida Mia and crew make it a truly breathtaking experience. So grateful and will be returning. My only wish is that it was a longer ride

FAQ

  • What if I’d like dinner with my cruise?

    • We provide a grazing table with some light appetizers, but this is not a full dinner cruise. If you’d like to book one of our dinner cruises, please join us on Friday evenings for our Fresh Catch Friday Fireworks cruise or check availability for Vida Mia Live, our special sunset dinner cruise showcase featuring local chefs and live local entertainment. If you have a large group and would like dinner service, consider booking one of our private sunset charters. We can customize and create a special dinner menu on any night that is available.

  • Can I bring food on the boat?

    • We ask that you let us know ahead of time if you are bringing your own food on the cocktail cruise in the notes section prior to confirming your reservation.

  • What if the night I want to come is not available?

    • Consider booking one of our coffee cruises! Coffee cruises depart daily and are a great way to see marine life like dolphins, whales and turtles. And, of course, the great views of Diamond Head and the Waikiki Coastline.

  • What if I don’t drink alcohol?

    • No problem! We offer plenty of delicious alcohol-free cocktails using fresh syrups and organic local juices.

  • What time should we arrive?

    • For our sunset cocktail cruise, please arrive at least 15 minutes before departure. We ask that you do not arrive prior to 20 minutes before boarding as our captain and crew are focused on safety checks and preparing the boat for guests. Note that parking is limited for our Friday Fireworks cruises. We recommend Uber, Lyft or another rideshare for Friday evenings.

  • What should I wear?

    • While we do not implement a formal dress code, “Aloha Attire” is always preferred. Our sunset cocktail and sunset dinner cruises tend to be a bit more formal, with guests wearing aloha shirts and nice slacks or shorts, and tropical prints. We recommend bringing a light jacket or sweater for our sunset and fireworks cruises. For our out-of-town guests, “aloha attire” is a semi-formal dress code that's a happy medium between business casual and full evening wear. It typically consists of aloha shirts and muumuus or other tropical print dresses. We like to create a festive atmosphere on the boat so please wear whatever makes you feel happy and comfortable. For dinner cruises, we recommend resort elegant or casual. Short pants and flip-flops are not recommended. For our daytime whale watch cruise, casual attire and shorts are fine. We also recommend comfortable shoes, sunglasses and sunscreen if departure times are earlier in the evening.

  • Can we wear shoes on the boat?

    • Heels are no good on boat decks. To preserve the vessel, we ask for bare feet or boating shoes (anything with rubber soles) for guests on our sunset cruises. We will safely store your heels on board the vessel in a safe stowaway compartment.

  • Where is the Vida Mia located?

    • The Vida Mia is located right in Waikiki, near the Ilikai and Hilton Hawaiian Village. The address is 1651 Ala Moana Blvd., Slip 499, Honolulu, HI 96815. The closest landmark is the Hilton Lagoon. You can also find us Google Maps. We are conveniently located near all the major hotels. We share the harbor with the nearby Prince Waikiki, Ilikai Hotel, and the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Parking is available right in the harbor, near the vessel and the closest landmark is the Hilton Lagoon.  If you are staying at the Royal Hawaiian, Outrigger Waikiki, or Sheraton Waikiki we are a short 10-15 minute walk along the beach. If you’d like to walk over, there is a nice bike path along the beach; you can catch it right at the end of Lewers Street or take the scenic route and cut through the path at the Hale Koa Hotel.

  • Where do I park?

    • Parking is available in the harbor. Parking facilities are not owned or operated by the Vida Mia and subject to change without notice. Please inquire at the parking facilities for their current rates. Please visit our YouTube channel for parking instructions. If you are located near the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Halekulani, Prince Hotel or the Ilikai, it is an easy 10-minute walk through the harbor.

  • Do you offer transportation services?

    • No, but we highly recommend ride-share such as Uber or Lyft. Transportation can usually be arranged by one of the many hotels in the area, and Captain Ricky has been known to pick up a lost passenger or two in the harbor! Please make sure your drive types in Vida Mia to their GPS - it will take you directly to our dock, Slip 499.

  • Is the Vida Mia wheelchair accessible?

    • No, but certain guests can be boarded onto the boat and setup, but only if the passenger is able to get in and out of the wheelchair. We do not recommend guests with wheelchairs be allowed on board due to the difficulty moving around the narrow decks. In addition, the heads are located below deck and are not accessible by wheelchair. We will do the best we can to allow disabled passengers to join us, please contact a member fo our reservations team for more information.

  • Is gratuity included in my booking?

    • Yes, an 18% service charge is added to every reservation and distributed directly to the employees of the Vida Mia.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    • Guests are free to get a refund or rebook up to 48 hours before departure. For special circumstances, please contact a member of our reservations team.

  • What if there is bad weather?

    • A member from our team, usually the captain, will give you a courtesy call the night prior to your booking to let you know what the conditions are like and give you the option to rebook or get a refund if the conditions look like they will be uncomfortable. Safety is our first priority. The captain may alter the cruise route for the comfort and safety of our guests. In very rare cases, a cruise may be canceled due to severe weather. If this occurs, every attempt will be made to contact you to reschedule your cruise, or you may call 808-746-8432 using your confirmation number as a reference.

  • Do you offer Kamaaina or Military Rates?

    • Yes! Please call us at 808-746-8432 to receive a discount code.

  • Do you allow smoking on board?

    • No, we do not allow smoking on board, guests are welcome to smoke in the harbor in the designated smoking area.

  • We are celebrating a special event or birthday or anniversary. What can we do to make it special?

    • Please contact our reservations department or add a note for leis or a or champagne toast. There is a special notes section when you check out for any special requests. For song requests and dedications, consider booking our Fresh Catch Friday Fireworks cruise. Our band takes requests and are happy to dedicate a song for the occasion.

  • How do you guarantee safety?

    • The Vida Mia is a U.S. Coast Guard-certified vessel. That means we pass a rigorous yearly safety inspection. In addition, every 2 years the Vida Mia is hauled out for structural inspections. Our captain and crew are highly trained and certified in CPR/AED, Lifeguarding and specialized safety training for the unique features of our historic vessel.
